Description

The route goes from the Peñas Negras Interpretation Centre towards La Arboleda District. The route runs through a natural environment recovered from intense mining, and it’s interesting to spot the different ‘streaks’ of vegetation both autochthonous (oak, riverbank forest, etc.) and conifer afforestation. In this area, it’s been possible to maintain a higher degree of vegetation due to the type of mining that was done (chiefly open pit), which had a lesser impact.
Narrow dirt trails (maybe very muddy when it rains) mix with wider tracks of irregular thick gravel ground and earth.
High level of difficulty for people in wheelchairs and reduced mobility.
The route can be done in all-terrain Joelette chair.

Section 1

From the Interpretation Centre to the neighbourhood of Arboleda

Not suitable for people with reduced mobility (PRM)

This section runs through wooded areas with difficult access for people with reduced mobility as the trail surfaces are very uneven and slippery. Occasionally the trail becomes very narrow making wheelchair access impossible in addition to gentle and steep slopes. The trail is signposted with wooden markers and different colours depending on the route we are doing.

There is an option of doing this route along the road as there is little traffic and what there is, travels slow due to the speed limits in the area.
