Description

Linear route of approx. 23km starting from district of Mendexa (Lekeitio) direction Munitibar, where it finishes. Throughout the route we will be constantly travelling through an extensive riverbank forest along the edge of the Lea River. Throughout the route we will be going through different towns where we will find all the necessary services, the most important ones being: Lekeitio, Gizaburuaga, Aulesti, and Munitibar. Throughout this route, which does not have any important orographic difficulties, we will learn the history of the Lea River. It is short yet fast flowing, and starts on the slopes of Mount Oiz, on its northern slope to be exact. This place saw the first stable human settlements in our territory, since when over 1000 years have passed. In its mouth we can find archaeological remains and news of its rich activity since Roman times. The 16th and 17th centuries marked heyday and wealth of this region. Its hydraulic inventions, iron production, shipbuilding and seamanship were at the forefront of Europe.

Section length
1,40 km
Pavement
Continuous, compact and non-slip, asphalt and sidewalk.
Obstacles
